= Minutes for BitStorage meeting with IT maintenance 2008-01-10 = Participants: Asger, Toke and Jens Henrik. This meeting was a follow-up to the last BitStorage-meeting with IT maintenance at [[Minutes/2007-12-20| 2007-12-20]]. == Actions taken == A test BitStorage has been created at the machine halley. The user-name is '''doms''' and Asger has ssh-access. Scripts for uploading, approving and md5'ing has been provided and tested. HTTP-access to the data is through http://halley/~doms/storage/ . == Notes == * IP-address based access-limits will be used for Gentofte. The technical aspects of this will be managed by IT Maintenance. For future projects, Jens Henrik suggests a ticket-based system, where the DOMS is responsible for issuing tickets for data in the BitStorage. * There is a length-limitation of 254 bytes for path + file name. The backslash-character must not be used in neither path nor file name. * The charset for files are optional, with UTF-8 as the obvious choice. Encodings for HTTP-requests maps 1:1 to the UTF-8 bytes (meaning that the file '''æøå''' will be accessible as http://halley/~doms/storage/%c3%a6%c3%b8%c3%a5). Jens Henrik hints that Tom (tgc) might have a solution on how to get neat file names when downloading such files. == Future actions == * The production BitStorage needs to be installed. Jens Henrik will discuss details with Tom and requests that we give early warning as to when it needs to be ready. Asger stated that late februar 2008 was the currest estimate. * The DOMS group needs to discuss the ticket-proposal. As we already need some sort of access-control inside DOMS, this does not seem like much extra work.
